THESE LOVE NOTES PROVE ALICIA AND SWIZZ ARE COUPLE GOALS
Trust us, this ain’t no ordinary love.
– KEYS SOULCARE
“I guess it’s trippy, you know, ‘cause… we’re very, like, just at the beginning of our whole lives.” — Alicia Keys
In NOTED: Alicia Keys The Untold Stories, Alicia and Swizz open up about raising a family, their unwavering admiration of each other, and the excitement they hold for their collective future. And we don’t think we’re the only ones who fell in love with their wisdom and authenticity. So, we’re sharing some of the most memorable moments exchanged between these two partners in biz, big dreaming, and even bigger love. In the name of L-O-V-E, here are four tender gems to keep close to your heart:
L is for living your best life.
“Swizz is the ultimate manifester. He definitely has taught me about magic. You do have the right to dream what you want to dream and expect it to come true.” — Alicia
It’s one thing to have a person want to give you the world, but it’s another thing for them to inspire you to manifest your own. Swizz taught Alicia a thing or two about bringing her plans to fruition in the right frequency. Her gratitude for his teachings is heard (and felt) as she breaks down his supportive energy and wisdom. Swizz passed on an opportunity for Alicia to empower herself — and she practices gratitude by honoring his influence in her rituals and beliefs.
O is for order.
“We have to be role models in our house first. It’s really not an outside thing for me. We got our sh-t straight. We got our communication in order. We got our goals in order. We got our love in order.” — Swizz
When it comes down to it, Alicia and Swizz agree their family unit comes first. Neither of them hesitate to stress the importance of setting an example for their children — a sentiment that hits home for Swizz, who also acknowledged his lack of a father-figure growing up. As a blended household, the love they hold for their kin exemplifies the love they have for each other. Or, as Swizz would say, having their sh-t together. (And we absolutely love to see it.)
V is for vulnerability.
“I don’t always share everything that’s happening with me. But Swizz is definitely my go-to, my touchstone.” — Alicia
Alicia is an admittedly fiercely independent person. While her records unveil the depths of her emotions, she’s not too keen on letting many others in. But, the lyrics to her song called “Best of Me,” which she collaborated on with Swizz, speaks volumes:
You get the side of me
I would hold back and not reveal
You feed the mystery
You are my red and my blue pill
It makes me come alive
Don’t be a lie, it feels so real
You get the best of me
Even though being vulnerable can be scary, these two are proof that it can deepen your connection and nurture a safe space for even the most independent people to rest their heads.
E is for equals.
“I think a lot of times people think they own each other because of a ring. She’s her own boss. I’m my own boss. We don’t own each other.” — Swizz
Swizz makes it clear: maintaining autonomy is non-negotiable when it comes to marriage. Alicia and Swizz are both making space for the other to grow and flourish in their independence. This serves as a reminder that giving yourself room in a relationship is important to your and your partner’s development. Rather than trying to possess the other, enjoy experiencing each other as equals stepping into your power and potential.
