3 REASONS TO PUT YOUR DAILY MANTRAS ON REPEAT
Alicia chimes in on why she’s a firm believer in the power of affirmations.
– KEYS SOULCARE
When Alicia shared her vision with the world, affirmations became synonymous with Keys Soulcare. Our Goddess-in-Chief knows these bite-sized proclamations are invaluable to the mind, body, and soul. She continues to gift these healing words to the Keys community in order to spread positivity and light into every ritual. When she appeared in Essence to discuss the launch of Make You, she shared more of the “why” behind her love of mantras — and left us with these nuggets of truth to muse on.
1. “There are definitely days when I’m feeling like shit and when I do the affirmations, it’s to claim what I want. I’m never usually feeling what I’m saying; I’m actually needing what I’m saying.”
Did you catch that? Alicia is speaking to one of the most challenging aspects of affirmations: Believing them. It can be a struggle to match your feelings to your words — especially on those days when you lack motivation or confidence. The trick is to remember affirmations are about aspirations. They’re a guide for your energy and potential, so let them redirect you toward your highest good. Are you feeling low? Boost your mood with our Sage + Oat Milk candle and repeat, I shine at full wattage.
2. “We’re not really taught to say ‘I put myself first’ and to feel good about that. Immediately that brings up a feeling of selfishness or self-centeredness, but it’s not about that. It’s about feeling good about yourself and then sharing it with others.”
Self-care isn’t selfish. (And, for the record, neither is soulcare.) Daily affirmations pour back into your energetic cup. Refueling your self-esteem breathes life into your inner world. Affirmations are pocket-sized permission slips to give yourself a break. Slow down with self-massage. Let obsidian’s cool touch break up the tension and increase flow using the Gua Sha Massage tool. Then add its mantra to your affirmation rotation: I carve out time for myself.
3. “I want people to feel like themselves and I want them to feel how they want to express themselves.”
Positive self-talk reveals who you really are. Beneath the noise of our external world, there’s the truest form of yourself to explore and build on. Having an uplifting dialogue with yourself grounds you long enough to declutter your mind. Once you can think clearly, you can tap into your power and see yourself for the masterpiece you are. Capture that light with Let Me Glow’s sheer, golden shine. The illuminating serum has a mantra that will never lose its luster: I give myself permission to glow.
