Up your beauty game with these dynamic skincare and body care duos.
– KEYS SOULCARE
At its core, self-care is about devoting time and attention to your well-being, and skincare is an extension of that. Whether you’re exfoliating from head-to-toe or wearing a face mask while sitting by candlelight, a beauty routine can be just as therapeutic as journaling or mediating. And, as with relationships, sometimes the experience with two is better than one. Ahead, find five skincare pairings that are better together. You have our permission to relax, unwind, and polish your shine.
1. BATH SOAK & CANDLE
We know you’re busy. Perhaps you have a tendency to jolt out of bed, check your email, hop in the shower, get dressed, and head out the door. It’s no surprise, then, that you might feel stressed, tired, or uninspired by the end of the day. That’s why, whenever you can, consider taking a pause and trying a leisurely bath. A bathing ritual is just as beneficial to the mind as it is to the body — especially if it involves a silky bath soak and the sweet scent and grounding light of a bathside calming candle. Afterwards, coat your skin in a moisturizing body oil and breathe in the relaxation.
2. BODY OIL & DRY BODY BRUSH
Speaking of body oil, a natural pairing to it is a exfoliating body polish or dry body brush. It’s a combination that’s somehow both invigorating and soothing at the same time, plus it creates ridiculously soft skin. Start off with dry skin and dry brush up from the feet in short strokes until you get to your arms and chest. From there, brush in towards the heart. Then, hop in the shower or tub and when you get out, towel off until skin is just slightly damp. After, apply body oil all over. If you’re opting for an exfoliating body scrub over a brush, you can skip the first few steps and massage all over while in the shower.
3. FACE OIL & FACIAL ROLLER
Deeply Replenishing Facial Oil works wonderfully on top of other products to seal in moisture and keep the skin soft and smooth. If you want to take your face oil to the next level, pair it with the obsidian facial roller to target puffiness. Press a few drops of oil into your skin, and then gently roll upward and outward. It’s a relaxing ritual that can also help drain fluid under the eyes and around the cheeks.
4. VITAMIN C SERUM & SUNSCREEN
Now let’s talk about morning skincare. When it comes to creating an effective a.m. routine, there’s no better pairing than vitamin C and Protect Your Light SPF 30 Daily Moisturizer. Take it from board-certified dermatologist Dr. Marisa Garshick. “Vitamin C works as an antioxidant to help protect against free radical damage,” she says. “It is great to use in conjunction with sunscreen, as sunscreen helps to protect against UV damage, while the vitamin C antioxidant works to repair any damage that may occur as a result of UV exposure. Together, the two work well to fight against signs of aging as well as discoloration.”
5. EXFOLIATING ACIDS & NIACINAMIDE
Another power pairing includes a facial serum with niacinamide that can help brighten your skin without irritation. “AHAs, like glycolic acid, work well to eliminate dead skin cells to brighten as well as reduce hyperpigmentation,” says Garshick. “For this reason, AHAs can be paired with niacinamide, as niacinamide is soothing on the skin and helps to reduce the potential for irritation while also helping to improve hyperpigmentation.”
