Tips and tools for making the most of your skin — and the time you spend taking care of it.
– KEYS SOULCARE
Many times, prioritizing soulcare just comes down to seeing everyday tasks as opportunities for ritual. And, while traditional men’s skincare regimens have a rep for being anything but indulgent, we’re big believers that a little care goes a long way. Ready to get more out of your skincare time? Read on.
Top 4 Skin Care Tips for Men
1. Know what you’re working with
Before you dive into any new skin know-how — including our rituals — we’ve got a quick favor to ask. Start by sending thanks to yourself and your skin — after all, it is our largest organ. Next, grab the closest mirror and take a good look at your skin. Note the texture, the condition, and any spots that could use extra care or attention. (Got questions? Send ‘em our way, and we’ll pass them along to our in-house skincare expert, Dr. Renée Snyder.)
2. Make space for care
We’re all about creative and meditation corners. Alicia swears by her “getting unready” routine. What do these rituals have in common? Dedicated time and space! Keep skincare items at arm’s reach — from a soothing candle to visually cue you to slow down and spend some quality soulcare time, to a relaxing read, lip balm, or aftershave that makes you look forward to winding down for the night. This way, you’re more apt to make time for yourself when the tools are close at hand.
3. Spruce up your shave
Yes, our skincare offerings are total game-changers. But, setting the scene for clean shaves (keeping your tools disinfected and blades sharp) are equally key. Enlist subscription-based razor services from companies like Bevel and Harry’s to keep your blades in pristine condition. Use a pore-purifying toner to clear excess products and oil from the skin, plus minimize razor bumps. And, what about keeping up appearances post-shave? Make sure to swap out washcloths and pillowcases no less than once per week to keep acne-causing bacteria at bay.
4. Don’t skimp on the good stuff
Once upon a time — you know, a couple of years ago — anything beyond cleansing and moisturizing your skin would be considered “extra.” But, today? Modern experts are now masking, exfoliating, and facial rolling on the regular — and, no, not just because they’re trendy. These small add-ons make non-negotiable steps like washing and moisturizing work that much better. (Grooming influencer and lightworker Ivan Lam is not only a fan of our Harmony Face Mask, but also uses our Golden Gentle Face Cleanser as a day-to-day version, too.)
