– KEYS SOULCARE
Dr. Renée Snyder, Keys Soulcare’s in-house skincare expert, is scrubbing in to talk about that delicate area under our eyes — from the factors that affect their appearance to tips for keeping them bright and healthy. We spy with our little eyes some game-changing advice.
What makes the area under our eyes look dark?
Genetics play a big factor in our likelihood of developing dark circles or having them appear at certain times. They can also occur if we’re experiencing stress, environmental stress (a.k.a. allergies), or illness. Apart from that, sleep, hydration, and overall health are big factors as well.
What can we do to keep that area looking and feeling its best?
Number one, make sure you’re hydrated. And make sure that the skin around your eyes is well-moisturized. (This helps ensure that products like concealers look their best when applied.)
Treating your entire face for your skin type and condition is key. When skin is healthier in this area, light reflects off of our skin and gives it even more shine and luster.
Oh! And be gentle with your eyes. When you’re taking off your mascara or a treatment, don’t ever tug or push the skin carelessly. Come allergy season, try not to scratch. Always take your time when dealing with eyelid and eye area skin. It’s fragile and should be treated with care.
