We can’t get enough of Manuka honey’s beauty and wellness benefits.

What is Manuka Honey?
Oftentimes, the word “superfood” starts and ends with what’s on our plate. But when it comes to Manuka honey, it’s only the beginning.
Before you ask, Manuka honey is different from all the other varieties. Specifically coming from New Zealand, it is produced when bees help pollinate the Manuka bush, or the Leptospermum scoparium flower. As one of the biggest exports of New Zealand (yes, even more than wine), Manuka honey has a distinct creamy, cloud-like texture. Plus, it’s bursting with beauty and wellness benefits.
Manuka Honey Benefits for Skin
What are the benefits of Manuka honey? “Manuka honey is both antioxidant-rich and a humectant,” says Keys Soulcare co-founder and dermatologist Renée Snyder, M.D. who is a big fan of using this ingredient in skincare products. “So it not only refreshes the skin, but also draws moisture to its surface.” Manuka honey also has the unique ability to cleanse skin which could help even the most blemish-prone skin’s texture and tone over time.
Manuka Honey VS. Regular Honey
While all honey can technically improve skin hydration, Manuka’s buzz across the skin, science, and food worlds have placed it in high demand. Also important to note? While many Manuka products like honey and beeswax aren’t vegan, it’s entirely possible to process Manuka without harming bees — or testing on them — in any way. (A standard we uphold here at Keys Soulcare.)
