WHAT ARE REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS?
But what exactly do we mean by reproductive rights, and why should they matter to all of us? Reproductive rights, in essence, are human rights that uphold personal bodily autonomy. When we talk about reproductive justice, we mean that individuals have the liberty to decide whether to have children, not have children, and raise children in secure and sustainable communities. It’s about choice and agency — recognizing that each person should have the autonomy to shape their own life, family, and future.
In the spirit of empathy, agency, and open dialogue, we extend an invitation to you to stand with us in support of the Every Body Campaign: a dynamic movement uniting more than 35 brands from across the beauty industry. Together, we are committed to raising awareness and funds to promote reproductive education and equitable healthcare access — a cause that resonates deeply within our community.
WHY WE CARE ABOUT REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
As a community led and founded by women, Keys Soulcare believes that the right to make decisions about our bodies is a fundamental pillar of personal freedom. Among our lightworker community, some are super mamas, cool aunties, and loyal ride-or-dies, bound by an unbreakable sisterhood. We are matriarchs, CEOs, and creators proudly bearing the marks of our unique birth journeys or celebrating our child-free paths. Regardless of where life has taken us, the right to choose is a privilege we hold dear. Yet, it’s a privilege that is constantly under threat.
With the landmark Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, overturned in 2022, we find ourselves at a pivotal point in history, facing both new and old battles. Amid these challenges, we stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow lightworkers who tirelessly work toward brighter futures for us all. Among our most steadfast warriors is the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective.
SisterSong, the largest multi-ethnic reproductive justice collective in the nation, has been an unwavering advocate for marginalized communities for over two decades. Their dedication has activated individuals and organizations across the U.S., tirelessly striving to enhance the reproductive lives of those in marginalized communities. SisterSong’s dedication extends to the Every Body Campaign, and for the second consecutive year, we are proud to stand by their side.
As Alicia Keys profoundly said, “This decision is about more than abortion, it’s about who has power over you, who has the authority to make decisions for you, and who is going to control how your future turns out.” This movement transcends political ideologies — it’s about people, including you and everyone in your community. It’s about championing our rights, our freedom to choose, and our autonomy over our bodies. The Every Body Campaign embodies the belief that every birthing body should wield the power to decide if, when, how, and with whom they start or grow a family — safely and legally.
