Because self-love is such a worthwhile investment.
– KEYS SOULCARE
When life is hectic, self-love can feel like an indulgence, rather than a necessity. But making good choices in the moment is the only way to better your future self. Here are a few ideas to show your future self some love. (And make present-day you proud, too.)
Start auto-saving
Apps like Acorns and Stash allow you to link cards of your choice, and then round up to the next dollar amount, depositing the difference in a savings or investment account on your behalf. Also, most banks now allow you to set up weekly or daily “pushes” of any amount from a checking to a savings or investment account of your choice.
Write down your goals
Bonus points for putting them where you’ll frequently see them. (The inside of your closet door absolutely counts.)
Start a meditation practice
We recently featured the how-to’s of Alicia’s own morning ritual.
Check your sleep routine
The National Sleep Foundation (yes, there’s a national sleep foundation!) recommends no screens before bed, getting time in full sunlight at some point during your day, and aiming for blocks of uninterrupted sleep time (no matter how short, but 7-9 hours per night is ideal, depending on your age) when it’s finally time to rest. Get a hobby
There’s nothing wrong with a little hustle, but having something you do just for pleasure with zero strings attached? That’s priceless.
Be your own political advocate
Vote in local elections. Complete the census (this year, you have until October 5!). Offer a ride to an elderly neighbor or friend who’s tight on time or other resources.

Make a “positive vibes” playlist for the days that you’re not feeling so hot. (And please drop a link in the comments!)
