Keys Soulcare’s consulting dermatologist dishes on the non-negotiables of caring for your skin.
– KEYS SOULCARE
We’re not shy about going deep when it comes to topics of soul and skincare. But come busy days — or even the ones when self-care means simplifying your to-do list — an expert-approved list of must-haves is just what the doctor ordered.
And, on days like these? We’re super grateful for time with resident skincare expert Dr. Renée Snyder. Here’s her list of must-haves (and do’s) for a no-fuss, super-effective skincare regimen.
1. Cleanse (Especially at Night)
“You’ve just got to do it. Especially at night,” shares Dr. Renée.
Listen up, parents: If you’re really feeling overwhelmed, make a ritual of the moment you walk in the door or end your day. Let’s be honest: Carving out some “me” time is one ritual we can all get behind.
2. Make Friends With Facial Wipes
“If you’re not going to really clean your face at night — every night — get them,” she advises. She even keeps a set of e.l.f.’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths on-hand at home and at work. (Pro tip from a previous interview: she especially loves them for fending off “mask-ne”.)
3. Sunscreen, Always
In case you missed it, sunscreen is for every one of us — no matter the weather, our skin tone, or our skin type. (This way to our in-depth chat about all things SPF.)
4. Apply Antioxidants (Especially in the Morning)
One more step to boost your glow when you rise and shine? Antioxidants, which protect against both sun damage and environmental pollution.
“Vitamin C and other antioxidants are great in the morning, before your sunscreen,” she advises, noting these ingredients’ instant and long-term brightening, hydration-boosting benefits.

5. Repair With Retinoids
“At night, you need to repair the damage with a prescription-form retinoid like Retin-A or an over-the-counter product containing retinol,” says Dr. Renée. “Both are derived from Vitamin A, which is a great exfoliator. It makes old cells hurry up and turn over. It’s how you get a dewy glow.”
